Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 16, 2026
Couponly is a browser extension that helps you find and apply coupon codes while shopping online. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
Couponly does not collect personal information. We do not require account creation, and we do not ask for your name, email address, or payment details.
The extension stores the following data locally on your device:
- Saved coupons — coupon codes you choose to save for later.
- Saved items — products you bookmark within the extension.
- Visit history — a record of supported stores you visit, used to show relevant coupons. This data never leaves your browser.
- Cached coupon data — a copy of coupon codes fetched from our server, refreshed periodically so the extension works quickly.
All of the above is stored using Chrome's local storage API (chrome.storage.local) and remains entirely on your device.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not track your browsing activity beyond supported store domains.
- We do not collect or transmit payment information, passwords, or form data.
- We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party scripts.
- We do not sell, share, or transfer any data to third parties.
3. Network Requests
The extension makes periodic requests to couponly.org to fetch updated coupon codes. These requests do not include any personal information or browsing data — only the request itself to download the latest coupons.
4. Permissions
Couponly requests the following browser permissions:
- activeTab — to detect when you are on a supported store and show relevant coupons.
- storage — to save your coupon data and preferences locally.
- tabs — to identify the current store you are visiting.
- alarms — to schedule periodic coupon data refreshes in the background.
- Host permissions — limited to supported store domains (Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, AliExpress) and couponly.org.
5. Data Retention
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you are in full control. You can clear your data at any time by removing the extension or clearing extension storage through your browser settings.
6. Children's Privacy
Couponly is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
